I have been sculpting stone for over twenty years. It is a full time process in refining and achieving a clean, precise work of art. I am self taught, working with only hand tools at first. I believe this leads me to understand the stone and all of its qualities. Having been raised on a ranch, I learned at a very young age to appreciate the natural beauty that nature offers. Stone is nature's hidden jewel and my goal is to bring out its beauty. My work can be both quite simple as well as very intricate depending on the stone itself.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in San Ysidro, New Mexico: 1948

Geronimo works with different mediums, but stone offers the biggest challenge and satisfaction. He has achieved national recognition for many of his works which are in both public and private collections. His work may be seen at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque. Geronimo has won many awards, including 1st Place at Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as 1st Place in Grapevine, Texas. He has worked with many several well known artists including Jesus Morales, Rollie Grandios, Clifford Graque, and Carl Berny. Geronimo has been an instructor for several years at the Southwest Stone Carving Workshop in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, where his private studio is located.
